The first thirty minutes: shrink the unknown
- Write the assignment objective in one sentence, in your own words.
- List the deliverables.
- Write down the three things you genuinely do not understand.
- Note the rubric criterion with the highest weight.
The next thirty minutes: make something exist
Create the document. Add the headings your structure requires. Under each heading, write one sentence describing what will go there. You now have a plan and no longer have a blank page.

- Stuck on meaning → you need the instructions explained.
- Stuck on scope → you need to narrow the topic to something answerable.
- Stuck on sources → you need a search strategy, not more searching.
- Stuck on structure → you need an outline mapped to the rubric.
- Stuck on time → you need a triage plan for what to cut.
Ask early, not the night before
Questions asked five days out get answered. The same question asked at midnight before the deadline gets nothing, and you end up guessing.
